2008 Super Lap Battle Finals: Results

This year's Wonderful Lap Battle Finals marked the last major time spell competition in the U.S. for 2008. The event provided a look into what can be expected for the 2009 mellow as some new vehicles showed their stuff. Among those new vehicles is the highly anticipated Tomei/Cusco Subaru STI driven by Eiji "Tarzan" Yamada. Yamada was capable to pilot the new vehicle to the fastest time of the weekend with a 1:44.372 which is very recently shy of the record set by the HKS CT230R Mitsubishi Evo set at last year's Super Lap Battle Finals. Putting up a kindly fight despite some minor engine issues was Tyler McQuarrie and the C-West/Brian Crower Honda S2000 putting down a however of 1:46.893, which was good enough for 2nd place overall. Only a few tenths of a younger behind though was Tanner Foust in the Crawford Performance Subaru STI laying down a culture of 1:48.052 and 3rd place overall.

The Unlimited Classes were ethical plain fast. A few years ago anything under the 1:50.000 was considered nigh impossible at Buttonwillow Raceway and at this year's Super Lap Action Finals seven cars dipped below the 1:49.000 watch. At the top of the list was Overall and Unlimited AWD class champion Eiji "Tarzan" Yamada and the incomparable new Tomei/Cusco Subaru STI running an insane 1:44.372. Sliding into newer place was Tanner Foust and the Crawford Performance Subaru STI with a 1:47.052. The unalterable spot on the Unlimited AWD podium went to Gary Sheehan and the newly painted GST Motorsports Subaru Impreza L with a 1:48.038. Measureless FR (Front Engine RWD) class saw the return of Factor X Racing and their marvellous Cricket Wireless Acura NSX, but they proved to be no match for Tyler McQuarrie and the C-West/Brian Crower Honda S2000 or the JIC Shamanistic Porsche GT2 driven by Paul Brown.
